Emilio Santiago visits WKCR's Som do Brasil program. From June 8 -12 he will be at BIRDLAND, NY

Producers Ettore Stratta (seated), Pat Philips, DJ Jassvan de Lima and world-renowned Brazilian vocalist EMILIO SANTIGAGO make a stop at the program SOM DO BRASIL at WKCR-FM at Columbia University, for a live interview with Mr. Santiago who will soon be releasing his new album globally on Universal records. They talked about his long career as a nightclub singer in Rio, to his success as a an international recording and touring artist. Santiago is an excellent interpreter of the samba/bossa nova sound and is considered one of Brazil’s most important romantic interpreters. He has worked alongside other jazz greats such as Caetano Veloso, João Donato, and Azymuth and has garnered six platinum records, seven gold, and the important Sharp Prize in Brazil.

From June 8 through 12, at New York's Jazz Club BIRDLAND, he will be joined by Mr. Marcos Valle, one of the major songwriters of Brazilian popular music with over 300 compositions and ranked in Brazil alongside legendary composers such as Irving Berlin, Burt Bacharach, and Leonard Bernstein. His songs have been recorded by Sarah Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Ramsey Lewis, Dave Brubeck, Toots Thielemans, Joe Pass, Bebel Gilberto, Joe Williams, Sergio Mendes, Flora Purim, Joao Donato, Eliane Elias …and more.

Ettore and Pat Strata's love for Brazilian music has brought to New York many of the Bossa Nova performers which have seduced musicians and listeners alike with its innate sensuality, melding samba with jazz sensibilities.
